Addictions

Life requires soothing. The choices we make around how to soothe ourselves are critical. We can choose to soothe ourselves in ways that enhance our health and our relationships or we can choose to soothe ourselves in ways that erode our health and our relationships, eg. Intoxicants such as tobacco, alcohol and marijuana; or addictive behaviours such as work or gambling. I support people in making wholesome, life-affirming choices. When we exorcise a demon such as alcohol, we must have an angel at the ready to put into that vacant space. Together, we work out which angel is right for you. For some it is yoga, for others AA, etc.

For others it might be as simple as learning how to travel into the heart of craving without needing to fulfil it.  We can truly come to know ourselves by staying close to the pain of our most tormenting desires.
