Leaving a
marriage is a critical transition point in one’s life. Seeking professional
support at such a point is a wise and responsible
decision.
When we have the
sense that we have failed at either picking the ‘right’
partner or at making our marriage work, all kinds of feelings
of inadequacy rush in to erode our native
self-confidence. At such a time we need
a reality check, a reflecting pool; someone to affirm that we
are not crazy; someone to assure us that all that really
happened is that we tried something and it just doesn’t work
any more.
Also, we could
use some support with how we can lead our children through the
trauma of losing their intact
family.
In time, as the principals
to the schism heal, so too does the
family.
